Formative Assessment Topic.07 Study Concepts
The following concepts will be on the Topic.07 Formative Assessment. It is the student’s responsibility to prepare for this assessment. Information could come from in class activities, discussion and readings.
For your benefit the definition of concept has been provided below:

The Scopes Trial- John Scopes was a biology teacher who taught evolution, which got him arrested. He ended up having to pay $100 and got released, never actually going to jail. 
Prohibition- Banning of Alcohol
Woman Organizations believed drinking increased violence and child abuse.
Flappers- Woman’s outfits changed, slits in dresses, makeup, smoked, drank.
Economic Issues (1920s)- buying a margin if the stock dropped you would loose money $$$.
Dust Bowl - Big dust storm covering many things such as farming. 

Agriculture Issues- Agricultural Depression. Prices Drop. 
Immigration Policies (1920s)
Immigration Act- Ethnic groups are limited to 2% of 1890 census 
 Asians were band
Nativism - KKK starts up again but they dont like the jewish catholic immigrants and black people, they killed anyone who came in their path even if you did not apply to who they did not like. 
Significant Literary Works (1920s) - How the other have lives by Riis and the ways of white folks by Hughes 
The Great Migration- African Americans leave the south and move north to get away from the “BLACK PLACES” like “black water fountains” “black buses” etc. They also got more jobs.
Harlem Renaissance- The African Americans step up and show their lives to the public, mainly in music, it gets big. 
Sacco and Vanzetti- accused with robbery and murder and put to death. 
Labor Issues (1920s)- Nation's desire for less government.
The Red Scare -
 Bolshevik Revolution- Lenin takes power in Russia.
People were “scared” of those who were not American. 
Schneck v. the United States- A Espionage act was declared constitutional by the supreme court.
